Eric Neil Besanko passed away unexpectedly on March 5, 2020 in Cincinnati, Ohio, from complications associated with cardiovascular disease. Eric is survived by his beloved daughters Elizabeth (Besanko) Jensen and Jessica Besanko of Cincinnati, Ohio; as well as his grandchildren, Paisley, Milo, and Ethan. He is survived additionally by Nancy St. Clair, Mother to Jessica and Elizabeth. Eric was 63 years old.
Eric was born in St. Louis, Missouri on November 2, 1956, to the late Betty and Frederick Besanko. He is survived by siblings David Besanko, Bruce Besanko, and Denise (Besanko) Burtzlaff; and was preceded by sister Leslie (Besanko) Franzen.
At a young age, Eric discovered a deep appreciation for the outdoors. He loved bird hunting and raising dogs, as well as identifying and collecting all manner of flora and fauna, from mushrooms to moths. His passion will be carried on by his children and grandchildren, in whom he instilled the same love and respect for nature.
Eric was an accomplished musician who frequently terrified his traveling companions by driving "hands-free" in order to give his harmonica his full attention. Some of his best times were spent singing and playing in his band, The Loose Shoes. He spent many years as a broadcast DJ as well, first on WOBO and followed by WVXU. His collection of music and memorabilia continues to be as comprehensive as it is cumbersome.
Eric attended Anderson High School, graduating in 1974. He graduated cum laude from Wilmington College in 1998 with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration. He completed his Masters of Science with Distinction in Strategic Quality Management at the University of Portsmouth in 2015. His pursuit of knowledge was relentless.
Eric spent an illustrious career at Hewlett Packard in leadership and executive roles until his retirement in 2018. During his tenure, he attained many prestigious certifications and accolades.
Eric leaves behind many friends and loved ones, as well as a hell of a lot of stuff with which his children have no idea what to do.
Services will be at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church, 8101 Beechmont Avenue, in Anderson Township. Loved ones are invited to gather on Thursday, March 12, 2020 at 11:00am, with a reception immediately to follow.
